Only 8% of people in the industry are from working class backgrounds. Savalon TV, is a new grassroots production company with the sole aim of challenging the structures in which film and TV are made. If the industry won’t give us opportunity I/ we will do what I/ we have always done before: we’ll give ourselves the chance.
Born to give you aggressively gay content, Savalon TV will hire working class people both behind and in front of the camera.
Genres: absurdist clown, dark comedy, erotic melodrama.
This project is brought to you by the legendary House of Savalon, who paid out over £60,000 in funding to underrepresented people in the arts in just three years. Such an experience was our commitment to supporting a thriving queer economy, with specific focus on supporting working class, neurodivergent, poc and trans people. The city was transformed, The House of Savalon lives on as a legacy. We brought the best nights the city had seen in recent times and many LGBTQ+ spaces that now exist in Bristol exist because of the coaching given to queer young people during multiple artist residencies focusing on stage craft delivery and how to effectively budget. How do you market immersive productions that pays everybody involved? We made it happen, the queer economy thrived, friendships were formed, memories were made.
Now it’s time for us to do the same in Film, TV. & Digital Media.

Oyster Juice (click to watch the showreel).
Two billionaires living in their commercial bunker on the edge of human time and civilisation. What could possibly go wrong? Oh wait, the Oysters have run dry….
Initially commissioned from funding by Arts Council England and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, Oyster Juice began as a durational live art performance lasting several hours to a sold out audience of over 350 people in celebration of the Bristol Museum’s 200 year anniversary. All of the galleries in the museum were open across three floors, with queer artists commissioned to make pop up performance. Oyster Juice has since been developed further into a theatre piece. Oyster Juice is on the cards to be initially be made as a short film before a long term aim to make this into a feature film production using the short as a portfolio piece for further development.
The Price of Mascarpone:
Written initially as a poem exploring clown infused with melodramatic kink erotica, The Price of Mascarpone has since been developed into a collection of poems in the style of a five course meal. The poems have been written up into film format, so developing these poems into short films will both further the ambitions to expand a portfolio of films while aiming to get the book itself published. Keep your Savalon TV bookmark close to hand so you can use it to keep your place when reading the book and follow the QR code to see more video content along the way. It is also being developed further as an immersive theatre piece with a Five Act structure. Developed with ACE funding.

Short Films:
Other short films will be shared with donors throughout the year, so keep coming back to this page where you’ll see new content added. The long term aim is to create an 8 part comedy-drama TV series that has already been written, so all of these other projects will show a body of work that makes us worthy of that commission further down the line. Stay tuned, stay posted and stay connected by joining the mailing list and following us on social media!
